Rahul Mahajan says he will definitely marry the woman he chooses through NDTV Imagine's reality show "Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega" unlike Rakhi Rahul Mahajan.

Sawant, whose televised 'swayamvar' came to an end with a broken engagement.

"See the name of my show is 'Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega'. The title itself says that I will take my bride home. I will definitely marry. In fact, the finale of the show will show my wedding only," Rahul told IANS at Udaipur's Fatehgarh Palace, where the show is being shot amid a lavish set.
Rahul, son of late Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Pramod Mahajan, will begin his quest for a bride on TV starting Monday. He will choose from a total of 15 women who were selected after much scrutiny from over 16,000 applicants from across the country.

Among these, around seven are associated with the glamour industry in one form or the other. There are also small-time news anchors, models, directors, a law student, a BJP activist and an undergraduate student.
Asked about his choice of women from the media sector, Rahul joked: "Maybe they have been watching me a lot."

"Seriously, I think there are girls from all facets of life - whether from human resource management, fashion designing, media professionals or whatever. I think we have picked up different women from various fields and sections of society," he added.

Rahul says he is looking for three qualities in a woman - "honesty, genuineness and a sense of humour". And the biggest put-offs for him are dishonesty and melodrama.

"I think everyone should be happy all the time. I want my wife also to be happy all the time; what else does one want?" he said.

According to Rahul, who had a broken marriage with his childhood friend Shweta Singh, says if his father would have been alive, he would have been proud about Rahul's decision of remarrying.

"My father had a wish that I should get married, go on a honeymoon, have kids. He wanted to have a grandchild - it would have made him happy; so in a way I am trying to fulfil his wish. He would have been proud," he said.

But then why did he have to launch a national search for a bride on television?

"Did the media feel like leaving me alone when I got married first or at the time I was facing problems? Did the media ever leave my private life? In the past three years I have not got any privacy. Since 2006, the media has been covering every activity of mine. So whenever I marry next, it will go live - I know it.

"The only difference now with this show would be that it would be shown on a single channel, unlike before when all news channels would have got the footage," he said.

"Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega" will air at 8 p.m. Monday to Friday.

Swati is a senior executive at a BPO in Delhi. She is a financially independent woman and has been shouldering the responsibility of her family since a young age. 

She has a younger brother who she pampers a lot and hopes that he also takes over the responsibility of the family soon since she wants to get married.

Priyadarshani runs her own NGO called Kshitij Education Social and Welfare Society. Her family is associated with the BJP and she is a BJP activist too. 

Priyadarshani first saw Rahul in her childhood and has been interested in him for almost a decade. She believes Rahul and she will understand each other well due to their similar political background.

After her father's untimely demise, Tannu took up the responsibility of her family, and became a HR professional. Tannu is also a guest lecturer for MBA students and gives tuitions to earn additional income.

She believes Rahul knows how to handle tough situations, a quality which is important in a man.

Nikunj was accepted into a PhD program at IIM Ahmedabad but she decided against it, as she did not want to study for at least six years. 

Nikunj loves dogs, and has five pets.

The set is ready and the bridegroom is easily excited by the idea of finding his bride through a TV reality show. His only request ~ switch on NDTV Imagine on 1 February and watch the second season of Swayamvar.

During his search, Rahul will spend long, restless nights in Udaipur where the love story unfolds. Fatehgarh Palace is ready to receive Rahul for whom a magnificent set has been designed by Omung Kumar. The palace, located on top of a hill and surrounded by the Aravali range of mountains, gives a bird’s eye-view of the city. Nikunj Malik (Faridabad) is an established accessory designer who has worked with reputed companies like Wills Lifestyle, Lee Cooper; Charmy Chauhan (Ahmedabad) is a law student; Harpreet Chabra (Delhi) is a model and anchor and is diplomatic in her responses; Mrinmai Kolwalkar (Pune) is a model with a sarcastic sense of humour; Twinkle Mukherjee (Kolkata) is a qualified engineer; Priyadarshini Singh (Varanasi) runs her NGO; Rajshree Mishra (Kolkata) is a model-cum-actress and is a member of a spiritual organisation, Dimpy Ganguly (Kolkata) is also a model and actress; 19-year-old Sonia Kaur is from Jammu and is the youngest participant; Rupa Khurana is from Delhi, Mani Thakur from Mohali and Rashmi Rawani from Lucknow...

Keeping the show together will be Ram Kapoor, who will also help Rahul make sensible decisions. As for Rahul, he has promised his mother to tie the knot with someone special, someone who will understand him.

Starting February 1, from 8 PM three Bengali beauties will be wooing Rahul Mahajan to become his wife.


Three out of 15 prospective brides on Imagine’s ‘Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega’ have something in common besides their hometown… their wish to be Rahul’s chosen one!

Rajshree Mishra (26) from Kolkata admires Rahul for the fact that he is an honest and down to earth person despite his high profile family background. An avid reader Rajshree has read all the novels of Sidney Sheldon.

Asked if he is going to choose his bride from the trio, Rahul said: “Bengalis are sweet people and have a rich culture.”

The much awaited swayamvar season 2 which was in news since October will finally be aired from February 1, 2010 on NDTV Imagine. Instead of giving it 9 pm slot, NDTV Imagine gave it 8 pm slot on weekdays and 9 pm slot on Saturday. Lets see, if Rahul Mahajan will be able to help NDTV Imagine reach a good TRP like Rakhi did in Swayamvar Season 1. Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jaayega (RDLJ) will have 15 contestants who will try their best to woo Rahul Mahajan. Show is hosted by none other than same Ram Kapoor while we see Sambhavna Seth (as sister) helping Rahul  to find his perfect bride.
